As someone who has been following the Atlantic Coast Pipeline with interest, I was pleased to see the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) release its draft Environmental Impact Statement. In the report, it was clear that the project partners are taking the proper steps to ensure that the beauty and environment of Eastern North Carolina are preserved in the process of setting up and operating the pipeline. Not to mention, the Atlantic Coast Pipeline will have long-term benefits to our environment by continuing to move us away from coal and toward a cleaner way of powering our homes and businesses with natural gas. When you pair the environmental benefits with the economic benefits - the project is poised to bring thousands of new jobs to our area, save consumers hundreds of millions in energy costs, and ensure a reliable energy source to run our economy - it is hard to ignore the fact that the benefits of the pipeline far outweigh any risks. I encourage you to learn more about the benefits the pipeline could have for our area and to voice your support as the project continues to go through the approval process.
