Earlier today, Dominion Energy and Duke Energy announced that they are no longer moving forward with the Atlantic Coast Pipeline (ACP).

This was a very difficult but necessary decision. The ACP was developed to meet the needs of communities across the region and to support the transition to cleaner energy.

Despite the enduring need for the project, there is too much legal uncertainty to continue moving forward. This decision does not diminish the dedication and support of so many across the region who have worked tirelessly to make this project a reality. Over the last six years, tens of thousands of people across West Virginia, Virginia and North Carolina have contributed to the development of this project.

You have written thousands of letters to your elected officials. You’ve voiced your support on social media, at dozens of public meetings and in countless other ways.

For making your voice heard, time and time again, we cannot thank you enough.
