The Atlantic Coast Pipeline is the best option to provide the cleaner energy our region needs now. As we transition from coal-generated power, we need the cleaner and more reliable energy of natural gas. While renewables will continue to increasingly help meet energy demand moving forward, a bridge fuel is necessary now to help meet demand until renewables can be more fully relied upon.

Without the stability of a dependable energy source, our homes, businesses, schools and more could be at risk of losing power when they need it most. Intermittent renewables simply cannot be that dependable source at this point.

But natural gas is an abundant, low-cost and very reliable source of energy—it works even when the sun isn’t shining or the wind isn’t blowing. It will help reduce carbon emissions from our power stations while providing American energy for American homes and businesses.

I urge you to approve the Atlantic Coast Pipeline.
